As the lands are still young, many humans still use the same currency that holds sway in the Throne; tokens melded from different sorts of metals. The relative simple and easy functioning of the system has led to an increase in the productions of merchants and traders. The coins exist in three variations; Iron: These are the lowest form of common currency. Most food items can be purchased for a few iron pieces. An inn desperate for business may charge only five or so of these for a night's rest. The average worker gets paid in these; the typical citizen averages five iron pieces in a week's salary. Ten iron pieces equate to a single silver piece. Silver: Perhaps the most popular coin used in trading. A person might purchase a cow or mule for one of these, or a fine horse for several more. Rent at many boarding houses and other sorts of accommodations rarely run for much more than a single silver coin per night. Ten silver coins make up a single gold coin. Gold: The most valuable of all three coins, the gold piece is worth a hundred irons. This could grant a person voyage across the seas, or, if willing to part with a dozen or so coins, a small, seaworthy vessel of their own.
