Name
Varjak, Aria
Alias
None
Age
16 (sixteen)
Appearance
Short for her age, Aria stands at a mere five foot and one inches. Already young, her height, coupled with her fair olive complexion and bright green eyes, make her look exceptionally younger. This usually results in taunts and teases from those older than her. She has a lean body complimented with full curves and dresses to accentuate those aspects of herself. By day she wears a cotton dress that falls slightly below the knee and ties her corset loosely at the top to allow for a ruffled blouse underneath. Her garments are of a rare quality considering her status but are old, and are frequently dinged or stained in places around the waist and hem. In an attempt to ward off these stains, Aria wears a simple white apron around her waist. By night, the white ruffled blouse is folded away in her quarters and the skirt of her dress is hitched up to mid-thigh to reveal high stockings and the buckles of a garter belt.

Don't Worry - Zoe Keating
History
Originally from Titan, Aria lived as an only child with her mother and father. As a young child, Titan was attacked by a pack of vicious beasts that came from the Far Lands, effectively killing both her mother and her father but sparing herself. Since she was no older than a few years, Aria has no memory of her parents, and very little recollection of the fateful night that took her parents - and so many others - lives.
Upon hearing the news, Aria's grandparents sent to bring the young girl into their home. This was a difficult transition for Aria, because she had never previously known any of her extended family. Her grandfather owned and worked on a farm in the neighboring village of Mollis, and her grandmother worked to maintain their home and personal garden while also running errands for themselves.
Aria grew up quickly and enjoyed helping her grandfather tend to the crops and feed their various animals. She made many childhood friends and became very interested in gardening and business. When she was not outside playing with the neighbors down the road or helping the farmhands with their work, she was hanging around in her grandpa's study, watching him pour over the household's expenses.
Years later as an early teenager, her grandfather died. For some time after his death, Aria and her grandmother became saddened but found a way to carry on with their lives. Her grandmother continued her garden and do house work while Aria took over the farm and financial work. During this period, she received more than a small amount of backlash at the contrast of her gender and her job, which made running the farm that much more difficult. In order to relieve some of the stress on herself as well as the financial burden, Aria sold the farmland and the house to a local and used the money to relocate.
The journey from Mollis to Alfrit's Blessing was exhilarating for Aria. The new, dangerously beautiful scenery outside her village opened up a world inside her mind that she had never really known existed. Until then, she hadn't realized how large the world really was, and how much land there was to explore. As a younger child, Aria never had much time or opportunity to travel, due to her village's closeness to the Far Lands as well as the full schedules of her caretakers. Other than moving from Titan to Mollis - something she was too young to even remember - she had never been outside the tall walls that surrounded the village.
Dangers that Aria had never heard of lurked in the shadows of the path they took to Alfrit's Blessing, and many close calls were had before they finally reached their destination. Though Aria had recovered quickly from the rough terrain and cold rains that frequented their pilgrimage, her aging grandmother could not adapt as quickly and, finally, found herself suffering a particularly severe bout of pneumonia.
At long last, it seemed, the two arrived at The Docks. Aria, desperate to get her only known relative to a safe place to rest, bought an old motel on the main road leading from the docks. She quickly acquired a sum of money from a suspicious looking character, to whom the young girl paid little thought. Aria thanked the man and promised to pay him as soon as possible, then hurried to transform two rooms into living quarters for herself and her grandma.
Aria used the remaining rooms to house many women, whom by day served food and drink to the sailors that come in from boats arriving on the dock. At night, however, the same women entertain the sailors in different ways, taking the men up to their rooms for the night in exchange for coins.
It is in this way that Aria saves money to help her sick grandmother, and pays back the increasingly scary and dangerous man she so naively borrowed money from. She also keeps a small garden in the back of her home, where she grows fresh produce as well as medicinal herbs, which she also sells to the sailors. Aria stashes away a portion of the money earned in a lock and key safe, where she hopes to leave this place she calls home in search of a more nomadic and adventurous life....
